The Background of Conan

Conan is a Belgian Malinois military working dog who served in the U.S. Special Operations Command. Trained at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, Conan went through rigorous training to become a Special Operations K-9.

In October 2019, Conan was part of the historic mission in Syria that took down Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS. The terrorist leader detonated a suicide vest as Conan and the U.S. forces closed in, but Conan's role in tracking and cornering him was crucial to the mission's success.

After the mission, President Donald Trump brought Conan to the White House Rose Garden in November 2019, where he introduced him to the world as "probably the world's most famous dog." Vice President Mike Pence called Conan a "hero" during the press conference, with First Lady Melania Trump also in attendance.

Conan represents the highest level of military K-9 training and dedication. These dogs are trained from birth to handle chaotic environments, detect threats, and work alongside special operators in the most dangerous missions. Conan's story is one of loyalty, courage, and service to America.
